Summer Essentials - Shopping Guide

Summer Essentials - Shopping Guide

The glistening heat of north is killing me. Whereas people in Bangalore and Mumbai are enjoying the monsoon. I love the rain wafting through the window, lovely drizzle and wind blowing past my hair. I miss being in Bangalore (at times though). Anyway, we all need some respite from heat and take care of our skin. Here is a list of summer essentials to beat the heat. These are some of my random purchases.

Body Polisher

I have reviewed this product before also. I love this Neem and Bergamot Polisher. The scrub is great and packed with all the natural ingredients. Your skin needs to get rid of dead skin cells and exfoliation is necessary two to three times a week depending on the skin type. This scrub is not coarse and can be used frequently. My only quibble is if you use it for body it will get over soon.
MRP: 403.75 INR

Jojoba Oil

In summers you might not want to use heavy creams which can be sticky but your skin should be well hydrated. Jojoba Oil is a multi-purpose essential oil with plethora of benefits.

- Perfect for face, great for removing wrinkles
- Makeup remover
- For chapped dry lips
- Heals dry itchy, red blotchy skin
- Leaves body glowing
- The oil is very light, has a very pleasant smell and doesn't leave the skin feeling greasy afterwards lending a shimmering touch to the skin
- You can apply 1 drop to damp hair for shine and frizz control
- It can be used for feet, encourages healing of the skin, prevents growth of bacterial and fungal microbes.
Use few drops with rose water or mix other essential oil and just pat on your face 3-4 times.

MRP: 250 INR

Just Herbs Skin Lightening Gel

I love this cream. I have reviewed other Just Herbs products before and I love their natural and cruelty free products. This skin lightening gel is light, non sticky and gets absorbed easily. I would say it is perfect for combination, normal or oily skin. If your skin still feels dry you can wear your moisturizer after this.
Check out the Ayurvedic Ingredients

Khus Khus Grass
Cucumber
Chiraunji
Fumitory
Wheatgerm Oil

Neutrogena Sun Block
I am sure most of you already know about this sunscreen. Be it summer,  winters, or monsoons you need a sunscreen anyway as UV rays are always  present. However, during summers you need a sunscreen of higher SPF.
Neutrogena Sun Block provides protection against skin aging UVA and burning UVB rays and combines with it Dry Touch technology for an ultra light non-shiny finish.

It is lightweight
Gentle for sensitive skin
Waterproof, sweat-proof, resists rub off
Non comedogenic
Oil free and PABA free

MRP: 450 INR

Do you have any other recommendations? I would love it if you will share here.

I highly recommend these summer essentials. I have made these purchases from healthkart.com and jabong.com

Look Of The Day - Ladylike Dressing

Look Of The Day - Ladylike Dressing
When my friends saw one of these pictures on BBM, they thought I have chopped my hair and all my locks have gone and I replied with ‘:P’. *grins*
This might not be the perfect ladylike look. But I like to tweak the basics and trends. This little black dress has it all from lace detailing to body-con like silhouette. Pearl earrings and diamond pendant compete the look. I added a big heart shaped ring and bright red nails to give a twist. My most versatile and easy to wear black peep toe pumps never ditch me. Here take a look.

I am wearing
Little Black Dress - KAZO
Earrings - Pearls from Hyderabad
Heart Shaped Cocktail Ring & bracelets - Crunchy Fashion(Worn here too)
Silver chain strapped sling bag - Shopper’s Stop
Peep Toe Pumps - Nine West (Worn here too)

Eat Clean.Train Mean.Live Lean - Soya nuggets

I am not a gourmet chef or anywhere close to that. I am not really fond of cooking but I do love to practice my culinary skills once in a while. I don’t really like to hog food and later feel ripped with guilt. But I do enjoy and savor exotic varieties of food for my cheat meals.
I know, cooking is so time consuming and needs so much patience. Kudos to all the chefs of the world! I really don’t like cooking for hours and gobbling down in few minutes. So here is my quick recipe which wont take much time and a perfect dinner option. You just need to plan a day before. That is all you need to do!

Preparation:
Keep the soya nuggets soaked overnight. Next day boil them till they are soft and add salt according to taste.

Ingredients:
Olive oil
1/2 cup chopped onions
1/2 tsp ginger garlic paste
1 cup tomato puree
2 tbsp Soya Sauce
1/2 tsp Garam masala
1/2 tsp Coriander
Chilly Sauce, vinegar and salt accoring to taste

Method:
Put olive oil and chopped onions. Stir them well till the onions are golden brown. Add chilly sauce, tomato puree and other ingredients. Cook it for 10 minutes. Finally add soya nuggets and cook for another 10-15 minutes. You got to have little patience and cook it well so that it gets dry and little crispy.

I usually prefer only these, but soya nuggets with brown rice are the best and healthiest combo. In India, it is served with varieties of bread.

Look Of The Day - Casual and Chic

I am sorry I have not been regular with my blog and away from the blogosphere. I need to covet time to visit the blogs of my other fellow bloggers. I have been down in the dumps but this is life. It all depends on how we hit back from rock bottom and go through every turmoil. It is all about not getting bothered and doing what you love and loving what you do. Anyway I am just quiet these days and little observant. But remember:
“Once they stop talking to you. They start talking about you. Whatever they say, defines them, not you"
Anyway, take a look at what I wore on the weekend. I paired a simple dress with beaded necklaces and a dramatic bag. The pictures ain’t that great. But I hope you like it.

I am wearing
Dress - Shopper’s Stop
Beaded Neckpiece  - Splash
Bag - Kazo
Purple ballerinas - Bandra flea market

Look Of The Day - Geek Chic

Lately I have been feeling down in the dumps. You know when it is just that people around you who let you down, undermine you and judge you. They are people who point at a girl's character or call her with names or call her self obsessed. I personally would never respect a guy who would call a girl with names if she is modern, loves to play dress up and cant let anyone suffocate her individuality. It is sad and disgusting that how much ever modernism people embrace they are still conservative in their minds. You cant link a girl with some guy if you see them together. They say you never really know someone until you walk a mile in their shoes.
I just hate rigidity and imposition of thoughts. I can say it without any qualms that I was born in a closely knit society. What bothers me the most is that people can’t respect each other’s opinions and get into a tirade of abuse. It gets on your nerves more when your friends have been snooping around. We might not have the same school of thought and approach. I have been trying to ignore and not get bothered. Guess, I just need to stay strong and do what keeps me happy. Chastisement, retaliation, vengeance, lashing out wont help. I have learnt, that only ignorance is a powerful tool which really helps in long run.

Anyway, enough of my rants and getting rid of my cluttered mind. Those who are here for the outfit posts here is my geek chic look with a touch of retro spin with my polka dots top, an essence of modernism and a twist of drama. *wink* I was pretty excited to showcase this outfit post ever since I bought my nerdy spectacles from Forever 21. Here take a look! Thumbs up or thumbs down?
